Art meets Auto in the first European Avis ArtCar experience
We're really excited about the launch of the first Avis Facebook creative experience, Avis ArtCar, open to the public across eight European countries. We have also teamed up with well-known artists McBess and Si Scott.
The first phase of the project, which we're running on Facebook in eight European countries, is to find budding designers and artists to design three more Avis ArtCars.
Anyone can upload their Avis ArtCar designs to Design page URL, and link to Facebook where they can also vote for, and share, their favourite designs. And in the meantime, McBess and Si Scott will be working on their own Avis ArtCars with their "designs in progress" posted to the site regularly.
The public submissions will be available to view on a gallery showcasing entries from UK, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. The promotion closes on 19 November, after which the second phase of the campaign begins. The five Avis ArtCars featuring designs by McBess and Si Scott, with the top three designs from the public, will be produced and the cars made available for free hire, in the participating countries, through the Avis Facebook page.
What we really like about this project is that while there have been other Art Cars before, the Avis ArtCars are the first ones that the public can design themselves and drive. You don't have to be an artist or a digital expert to produce a design - and of course anyone can apply to drive them through Facebook.
It's been great working with the team at Avis to bring the idea to life. We both believe that social networks are the ideal platform for brands like Avis to engage with their customers, and it's great to be able to get more people involved in art. We all believe that the Avis ArtCar will be a memorable, fun and long-term point of difference for Avis, in what is a highly competitive car hire market.
And it's also been great working with our friend McBess (again) as well as Si Scott (for the first time).
If you've never come across they're work before, we strongly recommend that you check it out - McBess is something of a renaissance man - alongside his work as an illustrator, he's also a filmmaker, a musician and an animator. Si's a full-time artist and designer and part owner of High Above The Street store.
Please take part and create an Avis ArtCar of your own. Who knows you could be one of the three artists whose cars will be available for (free) hire throughout Europe.
